Growing up in Fayetteville, Malik was well known in the local music scene, where he made a name for himself through his performances and collaborations. Though life took him in new directions, his love for music never faded, and now he hopes to reignite that passion in a fresh way through filmmaking.

 

It was his wife who inspired him to pick up a camera, encouraging him to explore the world of photography and filmmaking. She has thrived in the role as his  "artistic director," guiding each other in both their artistic endeavors and their shared vision for storytelling. Together, they are a creative team, with their home serving as a sanctuary where both art and faith are at the center. Their shared commitment to keeping God and creativity at the forefront of their lives fuels every project they take on, whether it’s in film, music, or other forms of artistic expression.

 

Malik believes that music and storytelling go hand in hand, and he strives to weave melodies, rhythms, and emotions into every film project he takes on. His ultimate dream is to bring his love for both music and storytelling together, creating films that evoke the same soul-stirring emotions as his favorite songs. Inspired by his own experiences and the rich, soulful sounds of old-time bands like *Sly and The Family Stone*, Malik draws from the past while looking forward to the future.

 

As a father, Malik is also excited to introduce his daughters to the world of music, hoping to learn instruments alongside them. He dreams of creating music-filled moments with them, sharing the joy of melodies and rhythms as they grow. Ultimately, Malik’s journey as a filmmaker is an extension of his lifelong love for music, and he’s eager to continue exploring the intersection of both, believing that each project is an opportunity to tell a story that resonates deeply with his audience.
